The Uterus, which carries the fetus in females throughout the pregnancy, it has three layers – innermost, middle and outer layer. The innermost layer of the uterus is called Endometrium. A thick and salutary Endometrium is crucial for normal menstrual cycle and successful pregnancy. A thick and healthy Endometrium, also known as Uterine Lining, goes a long way in ensuring effective implantation of fertilized eggs inside the uterus. Later, during the pregnancy, it also nourishes the fetus.
Estrogen hormone is extremely vital in keeping Endometrium thick, salutary and blood-rich. Inadequate level of estrogen results in thin Endometrium. If a Uterine Lining or Endometrium is a minimum of 8 mm thick, it is considered satisfactory. Anything less than 7 mm is called Thin Endometrium.
If women are grappling with issues related to pregnancy, like being unable to get pregnant or having difficulty in holding a pregnancy, they must get their estrogen level and thickness of Endometrium checked. Uterine Lining must be at least 8 mm thick for successful implantation of the fetus. If it (Uterine Lining) is thin, implantation does not take place that culminates in the failure of pregnancy. Hence one needs to get treatment for Thin Endometrium to become pregnant.
We activate the platelets from patient's blood to release their growth factors. Grown Factors are known to attract macrophages and mesenchymal stem cells to help stimulate the growth of endormetrial tissue. Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) or Plasma Rich in Growth Factors is now available at Jannee Fertility Centre, Chandigarh, to treat patients with thin endometrium and recurrent miscarriages. GFC is an autologous serum prepared from patient’s blood. It involves separating platelet rich plasma or PRP from blood and then activating the platelets to release the growth factors. Usually, 0.5-1 ml of GFC is infused into the uterine cavity of the female on Day 10 of the IVF/IUI cycle which helps increase the thickness of the uterus lining to 7 mm or above: a thickness that is optimal for implantation of the embryo. If endometrial lining does not increase to 7mm within 72 hours, then GFC infusion can be done 1-2 times more in the cycle.
At Jannee IVF centre we provide PRP treatment for thin endometrium in Chandigarh. In PRP treatment, platelets get activated inside the body and release their growth factors. However, at Jannee we go one step further from PRP. We activate the platelets in the lab to release their growth factors and then infuse these growth factors into the uterus. The results with growth factors are better and faster as compared to PRP alone.
